Originally located on Front Street, downtown Yoakum, Texas, Eddy Packing Co., Inc. was founded October 1, 1953 by E.R. (Eddy) Mayrant. Original staff consisted of Mr. and Mrs. Mayrant and a total of six production employees. Later they were joined by a Plant Manager and two Sales Reps. The company, family owned and operated, was founded with a commitment to producing consistent quality products "Made with Family Pride" and that commitment still holds true 57 years later. The company, in what now staffs over 600 employees, was later sold in 1998. Since then, an expansion and remodeling project has brought the plant’s entire square footage to approximately 300,000 square feet, making
Eddy Packing Co., Inc. one of the most modern meat processing plants in the southwest. In 2011 the company was acquired by Mason Wells, management and other investors, now maintaining the company’s market in the United States and Hawaii. As a creditable South Texas company, we have developed a brand to dedicate to the company’s natural roots - Yoakum Ranch.
