Eddy Packing Co. was founded in 1953 by E.R. (Eddy) Mayrant, in the small town of Yoakum, Texas. Eddy, his wife and a small dedicated team built a successful meat packing business with a commitment to producing consistent quality products "Made with Family Pride”. From humbled roots, Eddy Packing grew over the years and today operates a 300,000 square-foot BRC A-Rated meat processing plant just up the road from where it all began.
In 2011, the company was acquired by Mason Wells, a private equity investment company.
On February 11, 2019 Insight Equity Affiliate acquires Eddy Packing Co. from Mason Wells.
Under the leadership of our executive team of industry veterans, Eddy Packing continues to grow our branded retail product line, expand into new territories and enable solutions for food service and private label customers across the US.
Chief Executive Officer
Jim joins the Eddy team as of February 11, 2019 bringing more than 26 years of experience as incoming Chief Executive Officer with a demonstrated history of working in the food production industry. Skilled in Food Processing, Food & Beverage, Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), and Consumer Products. Jim will support the Company’s goals of developing a best in class facility while also expanding into new markets. Jim graduated from University of Pennsylvania - The Wharton School. He and his wife currently live in Austin and enjoy spending time with their two grandchildren.
John M. Fortino Jr.
John joined the Eddy Packing team in March of 2016 as a C-Level Executive experienced in developing and executing strategic plans tailored for high growth manufacturing companies. John brings with him 15+ years of experience in the food industry with recent positions as CFO with Liguria Foods, Inc., Specialty Foods Group, Protein Solutions, LLC and SweetWorks. He holds an M.B.A., Summa Cum Laude, from Benedictine University – Illinois, a B.S. degree in Finance and B.S. degree in Management from the University of Illinois – Chicago. John, his wife and four daughters relocated to Texas from Chicago.
Chief Marketing Officer / Executive Vice President
Rick joined Eddy Packing team in April of 2019 as Chief Marketing Officer / Executive Vice President. Rick has been in the food industry for 30 years and has held various senior jobs with ConAgra, Smithfield and Monogram Foods. Rick will be responsible for leading the very talented sales and marketing teams for Eddy Packing. Rick will focus on " Delighting our Customers " and helping Eddy Packing hit new sales high's. Rick has served on several boards promoting the food sector and was the President of the International Deli Dairy Bakery Association in 2007. Rick holds a Bachelor of Arts from Wofford College in Spartanburg SC . He is married to Joelyn Goodman for 32 years and they currently reside in Memphis TN.
Vice President Special Markets
Dean joined the Eddy Packing team in September 2014, a seasoned business professional bringing extensive experience with global companies in business development and operations with sales in the billions of dollars. His track record of success within the retail industry includes twenty four years with a major retail organization, where he held positions in sales, store operations, store manager, buyer, Executive Vice President of Store Operations, and ultimately becoming President and CEO. Dean retired and spent thirteen years as an consultant before returning to the industry. Dean holds a Bachelor of Finance from the University of Arkansas and participated in the Stanford Executive Development Program. He and his wife reside in the Houston area.
Vice President Retail Sales
Kieley is the 3rd generation of her family to work in the meat industry. She started her career at Eddy Packing Company in 2000. Her key accounts included Kroger Southwest, FoodTown, Fiesta, Sellers Bros., Grocers Supply, and the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. Kieley has worked with Kroger Southwest her entire career but became the lead salesman on the account in 2011. She worked to grow sales, increase additional sku’s, and manage the day to day business. From 2013 through early 2016, Kieley worked for Jake's Finer Foods and later Acosta Sales and Marketing, before rejoining the Eddy team as the Vice President Retail Sales. Kieley and her husband reside in the Houston area.
Vice President Food Service Sales
Gayle joined the Eddy Packing team in December 2013 bringing with her 20 plus years and her broad knowledge of all protein lines. Formerly a Manager with ConAgra Meats, she began her career there as a Quality Assurance Tech. Gayle spent 3 years as Business Development Manager with KeyImpact Sales and Systems for protein lines and 10 years with Center of the Plate Specialists for Orange Brokerage Co. Gayle holds a Bachelor of Science in Animal Production, Agriculture from Texas Tech University and resides in the Fort Worth area with her husband and two children.
